A podcast builds a relationship with people you rarely get to meet. For The Favorites’ Chicago watch party, I helped bring that community into the same room.

Held on March 29, 2025, during the Elite Eight, the event brought together approximately 400 attendees for a watch party presented by bet365. I led the creative direction for the event logo and managed the planning and logistics, from finding the venue to working through setup and seating.

Creating an Identity for the Event

I wanted the event to have its own identity while still feeling connected to The Favorites. I guided the logo’s creative direction, bringing together the Chicago skyline, basketball imagery and the podcast’s existing branding.

The finished design gave the watch party a sense of place and occasion, with bet365’s sponsorship incorporated into the identity.

Planning the Experience

My role extended well beyond the creative. I worked through the venue, setup and seating logistics, making sure the space could support both the live podcast component and the game itself.

That meant thinking about how the room would function for attendees. Where would people sit? Could they see the hosts and screens? How would the setup support the crowd throughout the event? Those details shaped the experience as much as the branding did.

The Results

The watch party drew approximately 400 attendees, with more than 100 app downloads reported through the event’s QR activation. Fans also watched a custom bet365 boosted parlay hit during the Elite Eight action.

The feedback from the podcast team was a highlight. Matt Mitchell recognized the organization and behind-the-scenes work that went into the event, while Chad Millman called it “easily the best we’ve had.”
